Ping Your PowerEdge Storage Server
If you are unable to connect to the PowerEdge storage server using the
MMC, try to ping the PowerEdge storage server, doing the following from
a client system:
1
Click
Start
Run
, and type
cmd
.
2
At the command prompt in the
cmd.exe
window, type
ping
system_name
, and then press <Enter>.
If you can ping the PowerEdge storage server but cannot access it through
the MMC, your PowerEdge storage server might still be booting into the
Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 x64 operating system and may not have
started the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
NOTE: It may take several minutes for the PowerEdge storage server to boot,
depending on your configuration and the amount of storage attached to the system.
My Network Places
If you have a client system running Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or
Windows XP on the same subnet as the PowerEdge storage server,
double-click My Network Places. Browse through the network and locate
your PowerEdge storage server.
