Managing Security
QCC security includes local connectivity, password and access control, Windows
firewall configuration, and secure sockets layer (SSL) data encryption.
Connectivity Options
As shown in Figure 4-1, you can connect to QCC GUI using:
A localhost connection (on the Web application server)
A remote connection (from another computer)
For information on how to connect to QCC GUI from the local host server or from
a remote connection, see “Connecting to a Host Server” on page 29.
For information on how to install QConvergeConsole GUI for local host
connections only, see:
“Installing QConvergeConsole GUI in a Windows Environment” on page 14
“Installing QConvergeConsole GUI in a Linux Environment” on page 16
“Installing QConvergeConsole GUI in a Solaris Environment” on page 18
Password Protection for Access Control
You can password-protect a host server to prevent unauthorized changes to that
host’s installed adapters. When you do this, authorization is required to make
changes to the following on the host or any of its adapters:
Adapter parameters
Flash BIOS
Adapter driver
Port configuration
Password (updates to the password itself)
The default security login password is config.
Requirements
To set up password protection on a host, you must have administrator or root
privileges on that host.
Procedure
For detailed information on password protection on a host server, refer to the
following topics in the QCC GUI help system:
Setting QConvergeConsole GUI Security

Using Security Check
