troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.

NOTE:
If you need to replace a RAID controller, always hot plug the replacement controller when the array is powered on.
All new hard drives should be hot plugged to the array. Do not use drives or RAID controller from another (foreign) array.
If your system halts during startup, check if:
The array emits a series of beeps.
The array fault LEDs are lit.
There is a constant scraping or grinding sound when you access the physical disk.

Troubleshooting external connections
Verify that the cables are connected to the correct ports before troubleshooting any external devices. For the location of
the back-panel connectors on your storage array, see the Back-panel features section in this document.
Ensure that all the cables are securely attached to the external connectors on your array.
