You can only split the 40G ports in the top row (odd numbered ports) on a 16X40G module. If you configure
4X10G on a 40G interface, the subsequent even numbered interface is removed and unavailable for use.
The following example shows the interface status before splitting a 40G interface:
Dell# show interfaces status
Port Description Status Speed Duplex Vlan
Fo 1/15/1 Down 40000 Mbit Auto --
Fo 1/16/1 Down 40000 Mbit Auto --
The following example shows that when you split an interface on a 16X40G module, the subsequent even
numbered interface is removed from the configuration.
Dell(conf)# stack-unit [stack-unit number] slot [slot number] port [port number]
portmode quad speed 10G
Warning: Enabling Quad mode on stack-unit 1 slot 3 port 15. Please verify whether
the configs related to interface Fo 1/3/15 Fo 1/3/16 are cleaned up before
proceeding further.
[confirm yes/no]:y
Quad mode is enabled on stack-unit 1 slot 3 port 15
The interface on stack-unit 1 slot 3 port 16 has been removed
%STKUNIT1-M:CP %IFMGR-5-DYNAMIC_FANOUT: Port 15 in slot 3 has been fanned-out
The following example shows that the even numbered interface is removed from the configuration:
Dell# show interfaces status
