TDR is useful for troubleshooting an interface that is not establishing a link; that is, when the link is apping or not coming up. TDR is not
intended to be used on an interface that is passing trac. When a TDR test is run on a physical cable, it is important to shut down the port
on the far end of the cable. Otherwise, it may lead to incorrect test results.
NOTE: TDR is an intrusive test. Do not run TDR on a link that is up and passing
trac.
To test and display TDR results, use the following commands.
1 To test for cable faults on the TenGigabitEthernet cable.
EXEC Privilege mode
tdr-cable-test tengigabitethernet slot/port
Between two ports, do not start the test on both ends of the cable.
Enable the interface before starting the test.
Enable the port to run the test or the test prints an error message.
2 Displays TDR test results.

Splitting 40G Ports without Reload
You can split 40G interfaces into 10G ports without reboot. You can also combine the split ports to create a 40G port without reload.
• On a device, fan-out prole constructs automatically with default 24 ports
(0,8,16,24,32,36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64,68,72,76,80,84,88,92,100,108,116,124) . These ports can be changed to 40G to 10G mode or vice-
versa without reload.
• When a non-supported prole release is upgraded to a supported prole release, the fan-out congured ports get automatically
included in the prole. In fan-out mode, if a system is upgraded with 25 or 26 ports, only 24 ports get upgraded to fan-out mode. The
rest of the ports are put to default 40G mode.
• In stacking, congure prole rst before provisioning for new units. Otherwise it is mandatory to reload for prole to take eect.
• If there is a mismatch in fan-out prole between master and the new member in stacking, the master re-congures the member with
its quad-mode prole, quad-mode, and stack-group conguration and then reset the member. To avoid stack split during prole
mismatch, the master does stack group congurations of the new member.
To congure the quad-port-prole, use the following command:

The defaults ports are:
0,8,16,24,32,36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64,68,72,76,80,84,88,92,100,108,116,124
To display the Fan-out capability prole, use the following show command:
show system stack-unit stack-unit number quad-port-profile
