Troubleshooting Fibre Channel Operation
To investigate problems in the FC interface operation, use the following commands.
Examples of the show command follow this table.
Command Description
create fc-
dump-support
Gather information about the Fibre Channel operation and store the FC dump le in ash/CORE_DUMP_DIR.
Generates Syslog messages at the start and end of the FC dump le creation.
change fc-
trace-level
number
Use for debugging purposes. Change the FC trace level used to record FC information in the FC trace le. The
range is from 0 to 4, where:
• 0 = Turns FC traces o.
• 1 = Records FC error messages.
• 2 = Records FC warning messages.
• 3 = Records FC informational messages.
• 4 = Records all messages generated for FC operation on the switch.
The default is 4.
show fc-trace-
level
Displays the currently congured FC trace level.
show file
fcmfs:/
TRACE_LOG_FC/
qstack_trace.l
og
Displays the trace log that contains trace messages of FC software and hardware events, state, and errors. The FC
trace log is stored in internal ash at the le path fcmfs:/TRACE_LOG_FC/qstack_trace.log.
show file
flash:/
TRACE_LOG_DIR/
fc_console.log
Displays the boot log for the Fibre Channel CPU. The FC boot log is stored in internal ash at the le path //
TRACE_LOG_DIR/ fc_console.log.
Example of the show fc-trace-level Command
Dell#show fc-trace-level
FC Trace Level = 4 (All)
Example of the show file fcmfs Command
Dell#show file fcmfs:/TRACE_LOG_FC/qstack_trace.log
