DHCP Retry Mechanism
BMP can request dierent DHCP oers
BMP requests a dierent DHCP oer in the following scenarios:
• If you enter the reload-type jump-start config-download enable command, the DHCP oer species both the boot
image and the conguration le.
• If either the image or the conguration download is successful, BMP does not request another DHCP oer.
• If the image download is successful but the conguration download fails, the switch boots up with the default conguration.
• If the image download fails, the switch does not try to download the conguration le and starts sending requests for a new DHCP
oer from a dierent server. The previously oered server is blacklisted.
• If the oer contains only a boot image that cannot be downloaded, BMP requests another DHCP oer.
• If you enable the reload-type config-download command and the conguration le in the oer cannot be downloaded, the
switch boots up and loads the startup conguration stored in local ash memory.
DHCP Server IP Blacklist
If the process does not complete successfully, the DHCP server IP is blacklisted and the DHCP process is re-initiated. A DHCP server is
maintained in the blacklist for ten minutes. If a DHCP oer is received from the blacklisted DHCP server, the oer is rejected.
File Server
Set up a le server and ensure connectivity.
You must congure the server that holds the boot and conguration les as the network source for the switch. The switch recognizes
HTTP, TFTP, FTP, and Flash URLs.
For example:
• tftp://serverip/filename
• tftp://hostname/filename
• ftp://user:passwd@serverip//mypath/filename
• ftp://user:passwd@hostname//mypath/filename
• http://serverip/filename
• flash://filename
