DHCP Retry Mechanism
BMP can request dierent DHCP oers
BMP requests a dierent DHCP oer in the following scenarios:
If you enter the reload-type jump-start config-download enable command, the DHCP oer species both the boot
image and the conguration le.
If either the image or the conguration download is successful, BMP does not request another DHCP oer.
If the image download is successful but the conguration download fails, the switch boots up with the default conguration.
If the image download fails, the switch does not try to download the conguration le and starts sending requests for a new DHCP
oer from a dierent server. The previously oered server is blacklisted.
If the oer contains only a boot image that cannot be downloaded, BMP requests another DHCP oer.
If you enable the reload-type config-download command and the conguration le in the oer cannot be downloaded, the
switch boots up and loads the startup conguration stored in local ash memory.
DHCP Server IP Blacklist
If the process does not complete successfully, the DHCP server IP is blacklisted and the DHCP process is re-initiated. A DHCP server is
maintained in the blacklist for ten minutes. If a DHCP oer is received from the blacklisted DHCP server, the oer is rejected.
File Server
Set up a le server and ensure connectivity.
You must congure the server that holds the boot and conguration les as the network source for the switch. The switch recognizes
HTTP, TFTP, FTP, and Flash URLs.
For example:
tftp://serverip/filename
tftp://hostname/filename
ftp://user:passwd@serverip//mypath/filename
ftp://user:passwd@hostname//mypath/filename
http://serverip/filename
http://hostname/filename
flash://filename
