Implementation Information
Because the S5000 has a single MAC address for all physical/LAG interfaces, only one MEP is allowed per
MA (per VLAN or per MD level).
Configuring the CFM
To configure the CFM, follow these steps:
1. Configure the ecfmacl CAM region using the cam-acl command. Refer to Configure Ingress ACLs.
2. Enabling Ethernet CFM
3. Creating a Maintenance Domain
4. Creating a Maintenance Association
5. Create Maintenance Points
6. Use CFM tools:
a. Continuity Check Messages
b. Sending Loopback Messages and Responses
c. Sending Linktrace Messages and Responses

Enabling Ethernet CFM
To enable the Ethernet CFM, use the following tasks.
1. Spawn the CFM process. No CFM configuration is allowed until the CFM process is spawned.

Creating a Maintenance Domain
Connectivity fault management (CFM) divides a network into hierarchical maintenance domains, as
shown in Maintenance Domains.
