Enabling the DHCP Server
To set up the DHCP Server, you must first enable it.
The DHCP server is disabled by default.
1 Enter the DHCP command-line context.
CONFIGURATION mode
ip dhcp server
2 Enable DHCP server.
DHCP mode
no disable
The default is Disabled.
3 Display the current DHCP configuration.

show config
In the following illustration, an IP phone powers Power over Ethernet (PoE) and has acquired an IP address
from the Dell Networking system, which is advertising link layer discovery protocol (LLDP)-media endpoint
discovery (MED). The leased IP address is displayed using the show ip dhcp binding command and
confirmed using the
show lldp neighbors command.

Configure a Method of Hostname Resolution
Dell systems are capable of providing DHCP clients with parameters for two methods of hostname resolution
—using DNS or NetBIOS WINS.
