Quality of Service (QoS)
Quality of Service (QoS) is supported on the S5000 switch.
Differentiated service is accomplished by classifying and queuing traffic and assigning priorities to those
queues.
The S5000 supports the following port-based, policy-based, and multicast QoS features:
Port-based QoS Configurations
• Setting dot1p Priorities for Incoming Traffic (Ingress)
• Honoring dot1p Priorities on Ingress Traffic
• Configuring Port-based Rate Policing
• Configuring Port-based Rate Shaping
Policy-based QoS Configurations
• Classifying Traffic (Ingress)
• Creating a Layer 3 class map
• Creating a Layer 2 class map
• Creating a QoS Policy
• Creating an input QoS policy (Ingress)
Configuring policy-based rate policing
Setting a dot1p value for egress packets
• Creating an output QoS policy (Egress)
Configuring policy-based rate shaping
Allocating bandwidth to queue
Specifying WRED drop precedence
• Creating Policy Maps
• Creating Input Policy Maps (Ingress)
Honoring DSCP values on ingress packets
Honoring dot1p values on ingress packets
• Creating Output Policy Maps (Egress)
Specifying an aggregate QoS policy
• QoS Rate Adjustment
• Strict-priority Queueing
