Users Guide
• If you use only two S5000 units in a stack, you can connect up to four 40 GbE ports in links between the two switches.
Stack groups 0 through 11 consist of four 10 GbE ports; stack groups from 12 to 15 consist of one 40G port as follows:
Stack Group Ports
0 0 to 3
1 4 to 7
2 8 to 11
3 12 to 15
4 16 to 19
5 20 to 23
6 24 to 27
7 28 to 31
8 32 to 35
9 36 to 39
10 40 to 43
11 44 to 47
12 48
13 52
14 56
15 60
For example, to congure 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports 16 to 19 on stack unit 0 for stacking, enter the stack-unit 0 stack-
group 4
command in Global Conguration mode.

Supported Stacking Topologies
The S5000 supports stacking up to six units in a ring or a daisy chain topology.
The following illustration shows three stacked S5000 units in each topology. Dell Networking recommends the ring topology when
stacking S5000 switches to provide redundant connectivity.
