PIM-SM snooping listens to PIM hello and PIM-SM join and prune messages while maintaining the VLAN-
and port-specic information in multicast packets that are snooped.
To display information about the operation of PIM-SM snooping on a switch, enter the show ip pim
summary command.
Related Commands show ip pim snooping tib – displays TIB information learned through PIM-SM snooping.
ip pim sparse-mode
Enable PIM sparse mode and IGMP on the interface.
Syntax
ip pim sparse-mode
To disable PIM sparse mode and IGMP, use the no ip pim sparse-mode command.
Defaults Disabled.

Usage Information The interface must be enabled (the no shutdown command) and not have the switchport command
congured. Multicast must also be enabled globally (using the ip multicast-lag-hashing
command). PIM is supported on the port-channel interface.
