Command History
Version 9.0(1.3) Introduced on the S5000.
Usage
Information
Port Channel interfaces are logical interfaces and can be either in Layer 2 mode (by using the
switchport command) or Layer 3 mode (by configuring an IP address). You can add a Port
Channel in Layer 2 mode to a VLAN.
The shutdown, description, and name commands are the only commands that you can
configure on an interface while it is a member of a Port Channel. To add a physical interface to
a Port Channel, the interface can only have the shutdown, description, and name
commands configured. The Port Channel’s configuration is applied to the interfaces within the
Port Channel.
A Port Channel can contain both 100/1000 interfaces and GE interfaces. Based on the first
interface configured in the Port Channel and enabled, FTOS determines if the Port Channel
uses 100 Mb/s or 1000 Mb/s as the common speed. For more information, refer to channel-
member.
Example
FTOS(conf)#int port-channel 2
FTOS(conf-if-po-2)#
