distance bgp
Configure three administrative distances for routes.
C-Series, E-Series TeraScale, S-Series, S4810
Syntax
distance bgp external-distance internal-distance local-distance
To return to default values, use the no distance bgp command.
Parameters
external-distance
Enter a number to assign to routes learned from a neighbor external
to the AS. The range is 1 to 255. The default is 20.
internal-distance
Enter a number to assign to routes learned from a router within the
AS. The range is 1 to 255. The default is 200.
local-distance
Enter a number to assign to routes learned from networks listed in the
network command. The range is 1 to 255. The default is 200.
Defaults
• external-distance = 20
• internal-distance = 200
• local-distance = 200

Usage
Information
CAUTION: Dell Force10 recommends not changing the administrative distance of internal
routes. Changing the administrative distances may cause routing table inconsistencies.
The higher the administrative distance assigned to a route means that your confidence in that
route is low. Routes assigned an administrative distance of 255 are not installed in the routing
table. Routes from confederations are treated as internal BGP routes.
