Concept Guide
Conguring DCBx
To congure DCBx, follow these steps.
For DCBx, to advertise DCBx TLVs to peers, enable LLDP. For more information, refer to Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP).
Congure DCBx operation at the interface level on a switch or globally on the switch. To congure the S4810 system for DCBx operation in
a data center network, you must:
1 Congure ToR- and FCF-facing interfaces as auto-upstream ports.
2 Congure server-facing interfaces as auto-downstream ports.
3 Congure a port to operate in a conguration-source role.
4 Congure ports to operate in a manual role.
1 Enter INTERFACE Conguration mode.
CONFIGURATION mode
interface type slot/port[/subport]
2 Enter LLDP Conguration mode to enable DCBx operation.
INTERFACE mode
[no] protocol lldp
3 Congure the DCBx version used on the interface, where: auto congures the port to operate using the DCBx version received from
a peer.
PROTOCOL LLDP mode
[no] DCBx version {auto | cee | cin | ieee-v2.5}
• cee: congures the port to use CEE (Intel 1.01).
• cin: congures the port to use Cisco-Intel-Nuova (DCBx 1.0).
• ieee-v2.5: congures the port to use IEEE 802.1Qaz (Draft 2.5).
The default is Auto.
4 Congure the DCBx port role the interface uses to exchange DCB information.
PROTOCOL LLDP mode
[no] DCBx port-role {config-source | auto-downstream | auto-upstream | manual}
• auto-upstream: congures the port to receive a peer conguration. The conguration source is elected from auto-upstream
ports.
• auto-downstream: congures the port to accept the internally propagated DCB conguration from a conguration source.
• config-source: congures the port to serve as the conguration source on the switch.
• manual: congures the port to operate only on administer-congured DCB parameters. The port does not accept a DCB
conguration received from a peer or a local conguration source.
The default is Manual.
5 On manual ports only: Congure the PFC and ETS TLVs advertised to DCBx peers.
PROTOCOL LLDP mode
[no] advertise DCBx-tlv {ets-conf | ets-reco | pfc} [ets-conf | ets-reco | pfc] [ets-conf |
ets-reco | pfc]
• ets-conf: enables the advertisement of ETS Conguration TLVs.
• ets-reco: enables the advertisement of ETS Recommend TLVs.
