After specifying autonomous systems numbers for the BGP confederation, recycle the peers to update their
configuration.

bgp connection-retry-timer
Configures the BGP connection retry timer.
Syntax
bgp connection-retry-timer retry-timer-value
To return to the default configuration, enter the no connection-retry-timer retry-timer-value
command.
Parameters
retry-timer-value Enter a value that denotes the time interval after which the session retries the
connection. The valid range is from 10 to 65535.
Defaults 60 seconds.

bgp dampening
Enable BGP route dampening and configure the dampening parameters.
Syntax
bgp dampening [half-life reuse suppress max-suppress-time] [route-map map-name]
To disable route dampening, use the no bgp dampening [half-life reuse suppress max-
suppress-time] [route-map map-name] command.
Parameters
half-life (OPTIONAL) Enter the number of minutes after which the Penalty is decreased. After
the router assigns a Penalty of 1024 to a route, the Penalty is decreased by half after the
half-life period expires. The range is from 1 to 45. The default is 15 minutes.
reuse (OPTIONAL) Enter a number as the reuse value, which is compared to the flapping
route’s Penalty value. If the Penalty value is less than the reuse value, the flapping route
is once again advertised (or no longer suppressed). The range is from 1 to 20000. The
default is 750.
