format (S-Series)
Erase all existing les and reformat the lesystem in the internal ash memory. After the lesystem is formatted, les cannot be
restored.

Usage Information You must include the colon (:) when entering this command.
After reformatting is complete, three empty directories are automatically created on ash:
CRASH_LOG_DIR, TRACE_LOG_DIR and NVTRACE_LOG_DIR.
CAUTION: This command deletes all les, including the startup conguration le. So, after
executing this command, consider saving the running cong as the startup cong (use the write
memory command or copy run start command).
Related Commands
copy – copies the current conguration to either the startup-conguration le or the terminal.
show le-systems – displays information about the le systems on the system.
fsck ash
Checks the ash le system for errors.
