6 MLAG, vPC, and RSTP-PV Example

MLAG can be used in combination with Cisco’s Virtual Port Channel (vPC) technology. vPC is a technology

very similar to MLAG that is proprietary to Cisco products, such as Cisco Nexus switches. MLAG is

compatible with Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol per VLAN (RSTP-PV), which is fully compatible with Cisco’s

Spanning Tree Protocol.

Figure 12 shows a diagram depicting a scenario that combines vPC and MLAG in a two-tier or double-sided

configuration, while implementing RSTP-PV on all switches.
