Troubleshooting your system

Unable to create a new partition while installing
Windows 2012/2012 R2 operating system
Likely Cause:
If you boot the system in the UEFI mode and then try to install Windows 2012/2012 R2 operating system
on a virtual disk that uses 4K native drives, the following error message is displayed: We could not
create a new partition.
Corrective
Action:
To resolve this issue:
1. In the Where do you want to install Windows? wizard, select the partition created by setup.exe
file, and then click Delete. Repeat this procedure for other partitions created by setup.exe file.
2. To create a new installation partition, click New, and then continue installing the OS.
NOTE: To avoid this issue, ensure that you use diskpart.exe file to create a partition while installing
the Windows 20012/2012 R2 OS.
0x0000003B or 0x0000007E stop error occurs on a
system while using a 4K sector disks
Likely Cause:
When you boot the system after installing Windows 2012 R2 on a 4K native drives, your system stops
functioning and results in a BSOD with the following error message:
system_thread_exception_not_handled (WppRecorder.sys)
Corrective
Action:
To resolve this issue:
1. Boot to the recovery console.
2. Start command prompt.
3. Run the following command:
c:\windows\system32\compact.exe /U c:\windows\system32\drivers\*.sys
