Navigating the CLI
The Dell Networking OS displays a CLI prompt comprised of the host name and CLI mode.
Host name is the initial part of the prompt and is “Dell” by default. You can change the host name with the hostname
command.
CLI mode is the second part of the prompt and reects the current CLI mode. For a list of the Dell Networking OS command
modes, refer to the command mode list in the Accessing the Command Line section.
The CLI prompt changes as you move up and down the levels of the command structure. Starting with CONFIGURATION mode, the
command prompt adds modiers to further identify the mode. For more information about command modes, refer to the Command
Modes section.

Obtaining Help
As soon as you are in a command mode there are several ways to access help.
To obtain a list of
keywords at any
command mode:
Type a ? at the prompt or after a keyword. There must always be a space before the ?.
To obtain a list of
keywords with a
brief functional
description:
Type help at the prompt.
To obtain a list of
available options:
Type a keyword and then type a space and a ?.
To obtain a list of
partial keywords
Type a partial keyword and then type a ?.
