Enhancements
The enhancements for the Multi-Service IronWare software are descibed in this section.
Release 02.8.00a
BigIron RX device does not properly restrict packets sent with a source port of 179. Port 179 is
commonly used for Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) communication. These packets are allowed through
the system. This has been reported by US-CERT http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/853246 (Defect
000355173).
In Release 02.8.00a of the Multi-Service IronWare software, a new CLI command, hw-opt bgp | bfd, was
added to disable internal ACLs for BGP and BFD.
To deny BGP traffic on the interface 1/15, enter the following commands.
BigIron RX(config)# interface ethernet 1/15
BigIron RX(config-if-e10000-1/15)# enable
BigIron RX(config-if-e10000-1/15)# hw-opt bgp
BigIron RX(config-if-e10000-1/15)# exit
Syntax: hw-opt bgp | bfd
The bgp parameter disables prioritization of BGP packets.
The bfd parameter disables prioritization of BFD packets.
