The following example restarts the disabled Ethernet port.
description
The description Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel) mode command adds a
description to an interface. Use the no form of this command to remove the description.
Syntax
• description string
• no description
• string — Comment or a description of the port to enable the user to remember what is
attached to the port. (Range: 1 - 64 characters)
Default Configuration
The interface does not have a description.
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel) mode.
User Guidelines
There are no user guidelines for this command.
Example
The following example adds a description to Ethernet port 1/e5.
speed
The speed Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel) mode command configures the speed
of a given Ethernet interface when not using auto-negotiation. Use the no form of this command to
restore the default configuration.
Console(config)# interface ethernet 1/e5
Console(config-if)# no shutdown
Console(config)# interface ethernet 1/e5
Console(config-if)# description "RD SW#3"
