Important Points to Remember
● For 10–Gigabit and 40–Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, FEC configurations are not applicable.
● CR4 auto-negotiation and FEC CL91 are enabled based on the media type.
● For 25G interfaces, CR1 autonegotiation, FEC CL74, CL108 are enabled based on the media types. You can enable or disable

● For 50G interfaces, CR2 autonegotiation is enabled by default. FEC CL74 and CL108 are enabled based on the media type.

● To view CR4 auto-negotiation and FEC configurations for 25–Gigabit, 50–Gigabit and 100–Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, use
the show interfaces command.
● When the 100G PSM4-IR is in the 4x25G fanout or breakout mode, inserted into an SFP28 LR, manually turn on FEC on the
LR side for the link to come up. This is because PSM4-IR requires FEC and only supports SMF link distance up to 2km. 25G
SFP28-LR does not require FEC and can support link distance of 10km SMF.
● If you connect the 25G SR optics between the S5048-ON and Z9100, enable FEC CL74 on S5048-ON for the link to come
up.
