Installing Oracle 11g R2 Database
RAC
This section describes the procedure for installing Oracle 11g R2 Real Application
Clusters (RAC). It is recommended that you create a seed database to verify that
the cluster works correctly before you deploy it in a production environment.
The installation procedure involves:
Installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a cluster.
Installing the Oracle Database 11g R2 software.
Before You Begin
Setting Up the Operating System, Network, and Storage
Before you install the Oracle RAC software on your system:
Ensure that you have already configured your operating system, network, and
storage based on the procedure given in the documents listed in "Required
Documentation for Deploying the Dell|Oracle 11g R2 Database" on page 5.
Locate your Oracle media kit.
Configure the System Clock Settings for All Nodes
To avoid failures during installation, configure all the nodes with identical system
clock settings. To synchronize the system clock of the nodes with the Oracle 11g
R2 Cluster Time Synchronization Service (CTSS), disable the Windows Time
Service as follows:
