Configuring Database Storage
on the Host
WARNING: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, read the
safety information that shipped with your system. For additional best practices

Oracle
®
Real Application Clusters (RAC) is a complex database
configuration that requires an ordered list of procedures. The following
sections describe how to verify, adjust, and configure the storage disks for
the Fibre Channel, direct-attached SAS, or iSCSI storage on your host.
Verifying and Identifying Your Storage Disks
While configuring the clusters, create partitions on your Fibre Channel,
direct-attached SAS, or iSCSI storage system. To create the partitions,
all the nodes must detect the external storage devices.
NOTE: The procedure in this section describes how to deploy the Oracle database
for direct-attached SAS storage as well as for Fibre Channel storage.
In the following procedures, Fibre Channel storage nomenclature is used.
If direct-attached SAS or iSCSI storage (Dell™ PowerVault™ MD3000, MD3000i,
or Dell EqualLogic storage array) is used, see Table 7-1 to translate Fibre Channel
nomenclature to direct-attached SAS or iSCSI storage nomenclature.
