Adding Nodes
Adding a New Node to the Network Layer
To add a new node to the network layer:
1
Install the Enterprise Linux operating system on the new node.
For
instructions to configure and install the operating system, see the
Installing and Configuring Enterprise Linux section of the
Dell PowerEdge
Systems Oracle Database 10gR2 on Redhat Enterprise Linux or Oracle
Enterprise Linux Advanced Server Hardware Installation Guide
document

.
2
Configure the public and private networks on the new node. For more
information, see the Configuring Storage and Networking for Oracle 10g
RAC section of the
Dell PowerEdge Systems Oracle Database 10gR2 on
Redhat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Enterprise Linux Advanced Server
Storage and Network Guide
document available at

.
3
Verify that each node can detect the storage LUNs or logical disks.
For
more information, see the Verifying Storage Configuration section of
the
Dell PowerEdge Systems Oracle Database 10gR2 on Redhat Enterprise
Linux or Oracle Enterprise Linux Advanced Server Storage and Network

Configuring Shared Storage on the New Node Using ASM
To extend an existing Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) database to
your new nodes, configure storage for the new nodes so that the storage is the
same as on the existing nodes. If you are using Automatic Storage
Management (ASM), ensure that the new nodes can access the ASM disks
with the same permissions as the existing nodes.
NOTE: For more information on configuring shared storage, see the Configuring
Shared Storage on the New Node using ASM section of the Dell PowerEdge
Systems Oracle Database 10gR2 on Redhat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Enterprise
Linux Advanced Server Storage and Network Guide version 1.0 document
