Creating the Seed Database Using Oracle ASM
for a Single Node
If you configured your storage using Oracle ASM, perform the following steps
to create a seed database with the DBCA:

As user
oracle
, start DBCA by typing:
dbca &

In the
Welcome
window, click
Next
.

In the
Operations
window, click
Create a Database
and
click
Next
.

In the
Node Selection
window, click
Select All
and
click
Next
.

In the
Database Templates
window, click
Custom Database
and
click
Next
.

In the
Database Identification
window, type a
Global Database Name
,
such as
racdb
, click
Next
.

In the
Management Options
window, click
Next
.

In the
Database Credentials
window, select a password option, type the
appropriate password information (if required) and click
Next
.

In the
Storage Options
window, click
Automatic Storage Management
(ASM) and click
Next
.

In the
Create ASM Instance
window, perform the following steps:
•In the
SYS password
field, enter a password.
If your operating system is Enterprise Linux 5.

Select
Create initialization parameter
file (IFILE).

When a message is displayed indicating that DBCA is ready to create and
start the ASM instance, click
OK
.

ASM Disk Groups

Create New
