In the
Run
field, type the following and click
OK

The Database Configuration Assistant starts.

In the
Welcome
window, select
Oracle Real Application Clusters database
and click
Next
.

In the
Operations
window, click
Create a Database
and click
Next
.

Node Selection
window, click
Select All
and click
Next

Database Templates
window, click
Custom Database
and click
Next
.

In the
Database Identification
window, in the
Global Database Name
field, enter a name such as
racdb
and click
Next
.

In the
Management Options
window,
select Enable Daily Backup, enter the operating system
username and password required to perform daily backups, and
click
Next
.

In the
Database Credentials
window, click
Use the Same Password for All Accounts
, type and confirm
a new password in the appropriate fields, and click
Next
.
NOTE: Record your new password because you will need this information later for database administration.

In the
Storage Options
window, select
Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
and click
Next
.

In the
Create ASM Instance
window, perform the following steps:

In the
SYS password
field, type and confirm a new password in the appropriate fields.
b
Select
Create initialization parameter file (IFILE)
.
c
Click
Next
.

In the
Database Configuration Assistant
window, click
OK
.
The
ASM Creation
window
appears, and the ASM Instance is created.
NOTE: If the warning message Failed to retrieve network listener resources appears,
click Yes to allow DBCA to create the appropriate listener resources.

In the
ASM
Disk Groups
window, click
Create New
.

In the
Create Disk Group
window, enter the information for the database files.

In the
Disk Group Name
field, enter a name for the new disk group.
For example,
DATABASE
.

In the
Redundancy
box, select
External
.

Click
Stamp Disks
.
d
Select
Add or change label
and click
Next
.
e
In the
Select disks
screen, press <Ctrl> and select the first two disks with
Candidate device
assigned in the
Status
column.
f
In the
Generate stamps with this prefix
field, keep the default settings and click
Next
.
