Upgrading the RAC Installation

On node 1, open a terminal window.

Log in as
oracle
.

Run the Oracle Universal Installer from the same node that you installed the Oracle Database software.

On node 1, open a terminal window.

Log in as
oracle

Shut down the Clusterware node applications on all nodes.
In the terminal window, type the following and press <
Enter
>:
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/srvctl stop nodeapps -n <nodename>
NOTE: Ignore any warning messages that may appear.

Repeat step 3 (c) on the remaining nodes and change the
nodename
of that given node.

On node 1, open a terminal window.

Log in as
oracle
.

Open a terminal window.

Type the following and press <Enter>:
export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1

Start the Oracle Universal Installer. To do so, type the following in the terminal window, and
press <
Enter
>:
cd /opt/oracle/patches/Disk1/
./runInstaller
The
Welcome
screen appears.

Click
Next
.

In the
Specify Home Details
screen, click
Next
.

In the
Specify Hardware Cluster Installation Mode
screen, click
Next
.

In the
Summary
screen, click
Install
.
The Oracle Universal Installer scans your system, displays all the patches that are required to be
installed, and installs them on your system. When the installation is completed, the
End of Installation
screen appears.
Next, a message window appears, prompting you to run
root.sh
as user
root
.

Open a terminal window.

Type the following and press <
Enter
>:
/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/root.sh
