Using Microsoft Active Directory 177
NOTE: You must install the Administrator Pack on each management station that is
managing the new Active Directory objects. The installation is described in the
following section, "Opening the Active Directory Users and Computers Snap-In."
If you do not install the Administrator Pack, then you cannot view the new object in
the container.
NOTE: For more information about the Active Directory Users and Computers
snap-in, see your Microsoft documentation.
Opening the Active Directory Users and Computers Snap-In
NOTE: On Windows 2000 Server, you can extend the schema but will not able to
install the Dell extension to the snap-in.
In order to manage the extended schema on the domain controllers running
Windows 2000, perform the following steps:
Connecting to a Windows 2000 Server Domain Controller from Another Domain

Admin Tools
Active Directory Users and Computers.

In the left-hand pane, right click
Active Directory Users and Computers

Connect to Domain Controller
to connect to another domain
controller.

Enter the name of the Windows 2000 domain controller.
Connecting to a Windows 2000 Server Domain controller from a Local System

You must have the appropriate Microsoft administrator pack installed on
your local system.

To install this administrator pack, click

Run

MMC
