This guide is intended for system administrators and technicians who want to obtain information about the various Dell systems available, the operating
systems supported by these systems, and the Dell OpenManage components that can be installed on these systems.
What's New for 5.4
The following are the changes in Dell OpenManage version 5.4:
l The Dell Systems Management Tools and Documentation DVD contains version 5.4 of the Dell OpenManage systems management software kit and
version 1.0.3 of the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility. The root of the DVD also contains ISO images of the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility
(version 1.0) and the Dell Systems Console and Agent CD (Dell OpenManage software version 5.3.0.1). You can use these ISO images to create CDs for
systems that do not have DVD drives.
However, if you need version 1.0.3 of the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility (to support x6xx and x7xx Dell systems and Windows Server
®
2008
operating systems), you can download the ISO image from the Dell Support site at support.dell.com.YoucanalsodownloadWebpackagesofversions
5.4oftheDellOpenManageServerAdministratorandDellOpenManageManagementStationsoftwarefromtheDellSupportsiteatsupport.dell.com.

Where Can I Find The Server Administrator Application?
Depending on the version of Dell OpenManage you are using, the Server Administrator is available on different media. See Table1-1 for more information.

This guide is organized on the basis of the Dell OpenManage suite of products and the operating systems on which these products are supported.
NOTE: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is scheduled to be available in the first half of 2008. For latest information, see
