148 Installing Managed System Software on Supported Linux Operating Systems
The following is an example of custom RPMs-based installation of Server
Administrator, including the installation of the Storage Management Service
components.
NOTE: On the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system, CDs are auto-mounted
with the -noexec mount option. This option does not allow you to run any
executable from the CD. You need to manually mount the CD-ROM and then run
executables.
1 Log on as root to the system running the supported Red Hat Enterprise
Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating system where you want
to install the managed system components.
2 Insert the Dell Systems Console and Agent CD or the Dell Systems
Management Tools and Documentation
DVD into the CD drive.
3 If necessary, mount the CD using a command such as: mount
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
.
4 If you are using the CD, navigate to the srvadmin/linux/custom/ <os> ,
where
<os> is RHEL4 or RHEL5 or SLES9 or SLES10 . Enter the
operating system specific directory corresponding to your system. If you
are using the DVD, navigate to
SYSMGMT/srvadmin/linux/custom/ <os> .
For example, If you are running
Redhat Enterprise Linux (version 4),
you can customize the installation by
adding the RPMs from the following
directories:
srvadmin/linux/custom/RHEL4/add-
storageservices
Storage Management component packages
for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (version 4)
srvadmin/linux/custom/RHEL4/add-
webserver
Web Server component packages for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (version 4)
srvadmin/linux/custom/RHEL4/srvad
min-base/openipmi/
IPMI RPM packages for Red Hat Enterprise
Linux (version 4)
