Using Server Assistant to Install an
Operating System
Overview
Dell OpenManage™ Server Assistant provides a streamlined and time-saving installation procedure
by guiding you through an easy-to-follow, step-by-step process for installing the Microsoft
®
Windows
®
,
Red Hat
®
Enterprise Linux, and SUSE
®
Linux Enterprise Server operating systems. Server Assistant
is used to install operating systems for systems being installed as managed systems.
When you use Server Assistant to install Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server operating systems, Server Assistant automatically copies the relevant
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator installation files onto the hard drive and places Install
Server Administrator and Delete Server Administrator Installation Files icons on the desktop.
NOTE: On a system running a Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server operating system, you
will be prompted to install Server Administrator on first boot after the operating system is installed.
