Overview

Server Administrator Storage Management provides enhanced features for configuring the locally attached RAID and non-RAID disk

storage on a system. Storage Management enables you to perform controller and enclosure functions for all supported RAID and non-

RAID controllers and enclosures from a single graphical user interface (GUI) or command-line interface (CLI). The GUI is wizard-driven and

includes features for novice and advanced users. The CLI is fully featured and scriptable. Using Storage Management, you can protect

your data by configuring data-redundancy, assigning hot spares, or rebuilding failed physical disks. All users of Storage Management

should be familiar with their storage environment and Storage Management.

Storage Management supports SATA and SAS, but not Fibre Channel.

• Support for 2.5-inch 4KB SATA drives on PERC 9 family of hardware controllers.

• Support for rear SATA on PowerEdge R730xd connected to software RAID S130 controller.

• Support for PMC SAS Expander on PowerEdge R730

• Support for Samsung PM1725 NVMe devices

• Support for HBA 330 Adapter and Mini controllers — Supported Non-RAID Controllers.

• Support for flexible backplane zoning functionality on backplanes with 24 slots — Backplanes.

• Support for setting Disk Cache Policy at physical disk and virtual disk level on software RAID S130 controller — Disk Cache Policy.

• Support for setting non-RAID Disk Cache Policy on PERC 9 family of hardware controllers — Disk Cache Policy.

Before Installing Storage Management

The following sections describe considerations for installing Storage Management.

Version Requirements For Controller Firmware And Drivers

For Storage Management to function properly, the controllers must have the minimum required version of the firmware and drivers

installed. The firmware and drivers listed in the Server Administrator Release Notes refer to the minimum supported version for these

controllers. Later versions of the firmware and drivers are also supported. For the most recent driver and firmware requirements, contact

your service provider.
