10 Introduction

What’s New in Dell OpenManage Version 5.3?

The following changes in Dell OpenManage version 5.3 (Dell OpenManage

Server Administrator version 5.3) affect this Compatibility Guide:

• Added support for the following Dell PowerEdge™ systems: R200, M600,

M605, R805, R900, PowerVault 100, PowerVault 500, and PowerVault 600

NOTE: The PowerEdge R805, M600, and M605 are scheduled to be available

in Q4 CY07–Q1 CY08.

• Added support for Microsoft

Windows Server

2008 (x86 and x86_64)

• Added support for Integrated DRAC (iDRAC) and the Chassis

Management Controller (CMC) for the modular systems.

Purpose of This Guide

Server Administrator operates on many Dell hardware platforms (hereafter

called systems) with operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, SUSE

Linux Enterprise Server, and Red Hat

Enterprise Linux

. To use the

systems management features of Server Administrator fully, you must

understand which features of Server Administrator match your system's

hardware configuration and operating system.
