a) In the Power Cap Priorities screen, select the priority (Low, Medium, or High) of each device within the group
using the drop-down list at the right of each device. Power Center reserves more budgeted power for higher
priority devices and groups when the power budget is not completely consumed.
b) Click Next to continue, click Back to return to the previous screen, or click Cancel to discontinue the task.
For static policies:
a) In the Power Cap Allocation screen, set the Power Cap Value and Percentage of Range value for each device.
b) Click Next to continue, click Back to return to the previous screen, or click Cancel to discontinue the task.
8. In the Power Policy Schedule screen, determine the monitoring schedule for your policy.
– Time Span — Always or a range (enter start and end times in the format hh:mm using 24–hour time)
– Recurrence Pattern — Always or specific days of the week
– Recurrence Range — Always or a range (enter start and end dates)
9. On the Policy Summary screen, review the policy summary information.
10. Click Finish to save your new policy, click Back to return to the previous screen, or click Cancel to discard your
work.
The new policy takes effect immediately.
Viewing Policy Details
Click Policies in the left navigation bar to view and manage policies. You can create, edit, delete, sort, filter or enable/
disable policies.
Policy details include:
• Enabled — The policy is enabled or disabled.
• Active — The policy is in use or not in use.
• Entity Name — Name of the entity.
• Policy Name — Name of the policy.
• Type — Static power policy or dynamic power policy.
• Power Cap — Power cap for the entity.
• Date Range — Start date and end date for the policy takes effect.
• Time Range — Time of the day for the policy takes effect.
• Days — Day of the week the policy takes effect.
Policy Priority Levels
When you create or update a policy, you can select different priority levels for each device/group. For example, you can
set priority levels based on the service level agreements associated with workloads running on a device/group.
Power Center tends to reserve more power to the devices/groups with higher priority when the power cap for devices/
groups is not fully utilized.
For each device/group, you can set one of the three priority levels:
• Low
• Medium (Default)
• High
