Upgrading from OMNM 6.2 SP3 to 6.5 | Upgrading/Patching from Previous Versions
98 OMNM 6.5.3 Installation Guide
Upgrading an Oracle Installation
Upgrading an installation with an Oracle database follows the steps outlined in the following
sections. Read them, and the rest of this section first.
Make sure the version of OpenManage Network Manager supports your Oracle version. See
Software Requirements
on page 15 for specifics about what’s supported. If your Oracle is not
compatible, upgrade it first.
You must run you must run the following on the (primary) application server:
loaddb -u system -w password -s
loaddb -u system -w password
and
dbpostinstall
The order does not matter.
Upgrading from OMNM 6.2 SP3 to 6.5
When Upgrading from OMNM 6.2 SP3 to 6.5, the 6.5 installation package is simply executed just
like a fresh installation. The installer will detect the upgrade and perform the necessary steps. The
6.5 version will perform an in place upgrade of the Mysql db. This included migration of data and
may take from 20 minutes to several hours depending on the size of your db. Once completed, a
complete system reboot is recommended.
Upgrading from OMNM 4.4 to 6.x
The following steps describe upgrading from OMNM versions 4.4 to 6.x. Notice that these are
suggested steps that may not comprehensively cover your particular system needs; modify these
steps to accommodate your system’s setup. See
Manual Migration
on page 102 for an abbreviated
list of what appears below.
NOTE:
Best practice is to perform these steps in a lab, then modify them to suit your system’s needs, before
upgrading a production system.
