vSphere Lifecycle Manager overview
The vSphere Lifecycle Manager is a service that runs in vCenter server (applicable for vCenter 7.0 and later versions).
vSphere Lifecycle Manager allows you to create baseline image that consists of ESXi image, firmware, and driver. It will make
sure that every host in the cluster is aligned to the baseline image by performing compliance check. If any non-compliance,
provides an option to remediate cluster.
In vSphere Lifecycle Manager, OMIVV acts as a firmware add-on provider. For more information about the vSphere Lifecycle
Manager, see the VMware documentation.
To use vSphere Lifecycle Manager with OMIVV, vCenter registration is mandatory. For more information about registering
vCenter and vSphere Lifecycle Manager, see Register new vCenter server on page 12.
You can register the vSphere Lifecycle Manage (applicable for vCenter 7.0 and later) in Dell EMC Administration Console during
vCenter registration. After vCenter registration is successful, you can modify (register or unregister) the vSphere Lifecycle
Manager registration status on the VCENTER REGISTRATION page of Dell EMC administration console. For more information,
see Register vSphere Lifecycle Manager in Dell EMC administration console on page 125 and Unregister vSphere Lifecycle
Manager in Dell EMC administration console on page 126.
View vSphere Lifecycle Manager status in Dell EMC administration
console
The following are the possible vSphere Lifecycle Manager statuses that you can view in vSphere Lifecycle Manager column:
● Register (applicable only for vCenter 7.0 and later) — Displays when the vSphere Lifecycle Manager is not registered.
● Unregister (applicable only for vCenter 7.0 and later)—Displays when vSphere Lifecycle Manager is already registered.
● NA—Displays only if the registered vCenter is earlier than version 7.0. If the vCenter is upgraded to 7.0, the status remains
NA. To reflect the status, restart the OMIVV appliance.
Register vSphere Lifecycle Manager in Dell EMC administration
console
The vCenter must be 7.0 and later version.
1. Go to https://<ApplianceIP/hostname/>.
2. On the VCENTER REGISTRATION page, under vSphere Lifecycle Manager, click Register.
The REGISTER VSPHERE LIFECYCLE MANAGER <vCenter Name> dialog box is displayed.
3. Click Register vSphere Lifecycle Manager.
A message displays that indicates the successful registration of vSphere Lifecycle Manager.
