NOTE: After you upgrade OMIVV appliance, vSphere Lifecycle Manager check compliance task fails for image created
with older version of OMIVV. To resolve this, save the image with latest version of Hardware Support Package (HSP).
● Incompatible: Displays when:
○ The cluster that is selected in vCenter is not associated with the selected Firmware and Drivers Addon (cluster profile
in OMIVV) .
○ If firmware repository in the cluster profile is updated after saving the vSphere Lifecycle Manager image for the selected
cluster.
● Unknown: Displays if host is not successfully inventoried in OMIVV. For more information, see Host credential profile on
page 38.
NOTE: You might see a mismatch between the OMIVV and vSphere Lifecycle Manager drift report. This is because the
vSphere Lifecycle Manager always shows live drift report and OMIVV shows the drift report that is based on the scheduled
date and time. If you see a mismatch between the drift reports, run the drift detection job on-demand on the Drift
Detection Jobs page of OMIVV.
Fix cluster compliance issues
1. If the host status is compliant, no further action is required for that host.
2. If the host status is Non-compliant, continue with the remediation. For more information, see Remediate cluster in vSphere
Lifecycle Manager on page 139.
3. If the host status is Incompatible:
a. Ensure that the selected cluster in vCenter is associated to a cluster profile. Select the same cluster profile as Firmware
and Drivers Add-On in vSphere Lifecycle Manager.
b. Edit the vSphere Lifecycle Manager image and reselect the updated cluster profile (firmware and drivers addon) and
save the image.
4. If the host status is Unknown, ensure that the host is added to a host credential profile in OMIVV and inventory is run
successfully.
Hardware compatibility check
vSphere Lifecycle Manager provides an option to perform the hardware compatibility check for vSAN cluster before performing
firmware remediation. Hardware compatibility check compares the firmware and driver present in the image against the listed
hardware and supported driver in the vSAN Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). vSphere Lifecycle Manager performs hardware
compatibility checks only for storage controller (PCIe devices). For the supported firmware list, in vSphere Client, go to
Monitor > vSAN > Skyline Health.
To perform the hardware compatibility check, in the Image Compliance section, click CHECK COMPLIANCE.
While performing hardware compatibility check, OMIVV returns the firmware versions that are present in the cluster profile.
If the firmware version is compatible with firmware listed in the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), vSphere Lifecycle Manager
displays the compliance status as Compatible. For more information about the compliance status, see the VMware
documentation.

Run a remediation pre-check
The pre-check operation performs various checks against each host in a cluster to ensure cluster readiness for firmware
remediation.
Pre-check is an optional task that can be performed at host or cluster level.
You can skip the pre-check operation, the vSphere Lifecycle Manager performs pre-check during remidiation.
As part of pre-check, OMIVV performs the pre-requisites check of the following:
● iDRAC reachability
● iDRAC Lock down mode
● Status of firmware update job (if any) triggered from OMIVV for any hosts for the selected cluster
● Collect System Inventory on Reboot (CSIOR) enablement
