d. To verify the connection between OMIMSSC appliance and SCOM Management Server, click Test Connection.
If the test connection is successful, the following message is displayed: Test connection is successful.
e. To receive alerts from the discovered Dell EMC devices on the SCOM console, enter the SNMP community name for
SNMP v1 or v2 .
The DellEMC_OMIMSSC_SNMP_RunAsAccount is created and is associated with the SNMP Monitoring Account Profile
on the SCOM console. This RunAsAccount is targeted for all Dell EMC Hardware devices. To change the target device
objects, wait for the enrollment job to complete, and then open the SCOM console and select Administration > Run As
Configuration > Profiles > SNMP Monitoring Account. Select DellEMC_OMIMSSC_SNMP_RunAsAccount and
click Edit to change associated class.
f. Under Monitoring scope, select the device types that you want to monitor using the OMIMSSC appliance for SCOM.
NOTE: At least one of the device types must be selected under Monitoring scope to proceed with the enrollment
job.
g. Under Monitoring mode, select either Scalable or Detailed mode for device monitoring using OMIMMSC for SCOM.
In the Scalable mode, you can view basic device and component group-level inventory and health monitoring metrics.
And, in the Detailed mode, you can view detailed device and component-level inventory (such as memory, processors,
and storage controllers) and health monitoring metrics (such as power and temperature).
Using the Detailed mode of monitoring, up to 300 devices can be monitored. When the number of monitored devices
exceeds the maximum limit, OMIMSSC automatically changes the monitoring mode to Scalable.
h. Click Next.
i. Click Apply to start the enrollment job.
The enrollment sub-tasks are executed, and the status of each sub-task is listed. The time taken to complete the
subtasks is 30 to 40 minutes and depends on the existing load of the SCOM servers. To view the status of the
enrollment job and the associated logs, click Settings > Jobs and Logs. The enrollment job is listed, and to view the
subtasks, expand the enrollment job. The Progress Status column displays the progress of the enrollment job.
If any of the sub-tasks are unsuccessful, under Jobs and Logs > History, expand the enrollment job to view the status
of subtasks and the associated logs. You can also see the Troubleshooting on page 82 section to resolve the issues.
j. Click Next.
6. To configure and onboard Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers:
a. Discover Alert Relay Server as an Agent-Managed Windows system on the SCOM console.
b. Download and install the Dell EMC Alert Relay Server Installer from the OMIMSSC Admin Portal on each of the
Agent-Managed Windows system to be used as Alert Relay Servers. For more information about installing and configuring
Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers, see Configuring and onboarding Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers on page 31.
c. On the SCOM console, after the Alert Relay Servers are listed under the Dell EMC Alert Relay Server State View,
synchronize the Alert Relay Servers details with the OMIMSSC appliance by navigating to Monitoring > Dell EMC >
Dell EMC OpenManage Integration Views > Dell EMC OpenManage Integration Dashboard. On the Overview
page, select Sync with SCOM MS.
7. Click Finish.
Results
The Management Server with the SCOM console is successfully enrolled to the OMIMSSC appliance and listed on the Console
Enrollment page.
● It may take 15 to 20 minutes for all the OMIMSSC—related management packs to get imported into the SCOM console.
Event ID 71 is generated. See the enrollment job logs under Jobs and Logs > History for information about the
configuration changes.
● During the enrollment process, all the Dell EMC management packs are copied from the OMIMSSC appliance to the SCOM
Management Server and are saved in the folder: C:\Program Files\Dell Management Packs\Server Mgmt
Suite\<version>. Based on the devices selected for monitoring, the required management packs are imported into the
SCOM console.
● The following prerequisites are automatically configured by the OMIMSSC appliance:
○ On the SCOM Management Servers—
■ The client for NFS feature on the Windows server is enabled.
■ The persistence version store maximum value is set to 131072.
○ On the Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers—
■ Registry entries "HKLM:\\SOFTWARE\\Dell\\Dell Server Management Pack Suites" are set.
■ The WinRM rule is added to firewall.
■ The WinRM client and server authentication are enabled.
