Enrolling (registering) SCOM Management
Group with OMIMSSC appliance for SCOM
After deploying the OMIMSSC appliance for SCOM and configuring its network properties with the SCOM Management Server,
you must enroll the SCOM Management Server(s) with the OMIMSSC appliance. During the enrollment, the following activities
are performed:
All prerequisites are configured on the Management Servers.
The Dell EMC management packs are copied to the Management Servers, and then imported to the SCOM console.
After the enrollment job is complete, you can discover and monitor Dell EMC devices on the SCOM console using OMIMSSC for
SCOM.
If there are multiple SCOM Management Servers within a SCOM Management Group, all Management Servers within the group
are enrolled with the OMIMSCC appliance. If a SCOM Management Server is added or deleted from All Management Server
Resource Pool (AMSRP), you must synchronize the SCOM console data that are enrolled with OMIMSSC. See Synchronize
details of Management Servers and Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers with OMIMSSC on page 41.
Scalability with OMIMSSC appliance for SCOM
When you add more devices to scale up your infrastructure, you can seamlessly scale up your monitoring capabilities by adding
Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers (previously known as Proxy Management Servers) in to your SCOM environment. Dell EMC Alert
Relay Servers enables you to offload the monitoring, performance metrics, and SNMP alerts workflows from the Management
Server, and thus helps in scaling up the number of devices being monitored within a SCOM Management Group. Discover Alert
Relay Server as an Agent-Managed Windows system in the SCOM console.
Ensure that SCOM Management Servers and Dell EMC Alert Relay Servers are in the same domain.
On each of the identified systems, download and install the Dell EMC Alert Relay Server Installer from the Downloads page
on the OMIMSSC Admin Portal. To configure and onboard Alert Relay Servers, see Configuring and onboarding Dell EMC Alert
Relay Servers on page 31. For more information about scalability with OMIMSSC appliance for SCOM, see the Scalability with
Dell EMC OpenManage Integration with Microsoft System Center (OMIMSSC) for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
technical white paper on the support site.
