Preparing the Script Files for
Deployment Using Embedded Linux
This section describes the steps required to use the Deployment Toolkit (DTK)
sample scripts to perform a full deployment of a target system in the
embedded Linux environment.
There are four main tasks:
• Writing the master deployment file and editing the
tkenvset.sh
script to
set the variable values used in the deployment scripts
• Editing the supporting task scripts, as necessary
• Using DTK sample scripts to capture basic input/output system (BIOS),
Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), and Remote Access Controller
(RAC) configuration information from an optimally configured source
system
• Preparing the operating system installation scripts and answer files, and
configuring supported RAID controllers

Deployment in Embedded Linux
The Master Deployment File
A scripted DTK deployment relies on the
master deployment file
to integrate
all the applicable DTK task scripts and utilities and perform pre-operating
system configuration tasks before launching the operating system installation
files. The
master deployment file
, along with the tkenvset.sh scripts, make up
the master set of instructions that drives the deployment process.
