Preparing the Script Files for Deployment Using Microsoft Windows PE 53
Preparing the Script Files for
Deployment Using Microsoft
Windows PE
This section describes the steps required to use the Deployment Toolkit (DTK)
sample scripts to perform a full deployment of a target system in the
Microsoft
®
Windows
®
PE environment.
There are four main tasks:
Writing the deployment master batch file (as an example, referred to as
DEPLOY.BAT
in this document) or deployment script, editing the
TKENVSET.BAT
script, to set the variable values used in the deployment
scripts
Editing the supporting task scripts, as necessary
Using the DTK sample scripts to capture basic input/output system (BIOS),
baseboard management controller (BMC) (SYSCFG), and remote access
controller (RAC) configuration information from an optimally configured
source system
Preparing the operating system installation scripts and answer files
NOTICE: Due to limitations of older product generations with the implementation of
the Windows PE environment, you cannot configure Dell™ Remote Access
Controller (DRAC) III, DRAC III/XT, ERA, ERA/O, and ERA/MC controllers using DTK 2.2
(Windows PE version) and later. To configure any of the DRAC III controllers, do one
of the following:
If your DRAC III, DRAC III/XT, ERA, ERA/O, and ERA/MC controllers have a set valid
IP address already, you can use Dell OpenManage™ Server Administrator running
on any system on the same network to remotely configure DRAC III controllers. For
details, refer to the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator User's Guide.
Continue with the setup and operating system deployment of your system, and then
use Server Administrator on the same system to configure DRAC III, DRAC III/XT,
ERA, ERA/O, and ERA/MC controllers.
Use the Linux version of DTK 2.4 to set up your DRAC III, DRAC III/XT, ERA, ERA/O,
and ERA/MC controller
