QIG.book Page 7 Tuesday, May 8, 2012 2:00 PM 2 Installing, Upgrading, and Uninstalling OpenManage Client Instrumentation Dell OpenManage Client Instrumentation (Client Instrumentation) can be installed either: • Using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) also known as the Client Instrumentation installation wizard • Remotely through a silent installation using the Command Line Interface (CLI) The OMCI installation file is available as a Dell Update Package (DUP) at support.dell.com.
QIG.book Page 8 Tuesday, May 8, 2012 2:00 PM Client Instrumentation installs a WMI provider, two services, and a driver. WMI utilizes COM as the communication interfaces with providers. The services provide Client Instrumentation access to the system for events and data retrieval. Client Instrumentation also installs a driver. The driver is used for secure communication with BIOS and other low level system resources.

NOTE: In Windows Vista, use the Programs and Features icon on the Control Panel for uninstalling Client Instrumentation.

The License Agreement window appears. 3 Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next.
