Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP)
Multiple spanning tree protocol (MSTP), as implemented by FTOS, conforms to IEEE 802.1s.
MSTP is supported by the Dell Networking operating software (FTOS) on the S5000 switch.
debug spanning-tree mstp
Enable debugging of the multiple spanning tree protocol and view information on the protocol.

Syntax
debug spanning-tree mstp [all | bpdu interface-type slot/port
{in | out} | events]
Parameters
all (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword all to debug all spanning tree
operations.
bpdu
interface-
type slot/port
{in |
out}
(OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword bpdu to debug bridge protocol data
units (BPDU).
(OPTIONAL) Enter one of the following keywords and slot/port or
number information. Valid slot numbers are 0-11. The valid port
numbers for each interface type are listed below.
• For a 10-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
tengigabitethernet followed by slot/port numbers.
The port range is 0 to 63.
• For a 40-Gigabit Ethernet interface, enter the keyword
fortyGigE followed by slot/port numbers. The ports are 48,
52, 56, and 60.
• For a Port Channel interface, enter the keywords port-
channel
followed by a number from 1 to 128.
Optionally, enter an in or out parameter in conjunction with the
optional interface:
• For Receive, enter the keyword in.
• For Transmit, enter the keyword out.
events (OPTIONAL) Enter the keyword events to debug MSTP events.
