Parameters
slot/port
For
slot
, enter the stack-unit number assigned to the switch. The
range of
slot
(stack-unit) numbers is from 0 to 11. The range of
port
numbers is from 0 to 47.
NOTE: In release 9.0.(1.3), an FC module can be installed only in
expansion slot 0 (ports 0 to 11) on an S5000 switch.
Defaults By default, a Fibre Channel port is shut down, configured to operate at autosensing speed in N
port mode, and to receive Fibre Channel Forwarder (FCF) attributes, such as MAC address, FIP
priority, and FC keepalive values, from the principal fabric switch.
By default, the stack-unit number of a standalone S5000 switch is 0.
FC ports are configured by default to operate in N port mode to connect to an F port on an FC
switch in a fabric.

Usage
Information
You can configure a Fibre Channel port to operate at 2G, 4G, or 8G FC speed.
By default, Fibre Channel interfaces are disabled (shutdown). When you bring up a Fibre
Channel port (
no shutdown), the Fibre Channel link with a fabric is brought up and the port
logs in to a peer switch in the fabric.
When a Fibre Channel port is configured to operate as an NPIV proxy gateway:
• When you shut down the port (shutdown), all FCoE virtual links associated with the
port are removed.
• When you bring up the port (no shutdown), the Fibre Channel link with a fabric is
brought up, the FC port logs in to the principal switch, and the fabric starts sending FIP
multicast advertisements over downstream 10GbE Ethernet ports. The worldwide name
(WWN) received from the principal switch is used as the fabric name in FIP multicast
advertisements.
You can apply only one FCoE map on an FC port. When you apply an FCoE map on a fabric-
facing FC port, the FC port becomes part of the FCoE fabric, whose settings in the FCoE map are
configured on the port and exported to downstream server CNA ports. When you enable a
fabric-facing FC port, the FCoE map applied on the port starts sending FIP multicast
advertisements using the parameters in the FCoE map over server-facing Ethernet ports. A
server sees the FC port with its applied FCoE map as an FCF port.
Example
FTOS(conf)#interface fibrechannel 3/0
FTOS(conf-if-fc-3/0)#exit#
