12 Importing the Dell™ Management Pack
Importing the Dell Management Pack
The Management Pack consists of a single module—the
Dell.Connections.001.MP file.
To import the Management Pack, use the Operations Manager 2007 Import
Management Pack wizard:
NOTE: The Management Pack also supports Microsoft System Center Essentials 2007.
All references to Operations Manager 2007 in this guide are applicable to System
Center Essentials 2007 as well.

Download the Management Pack from the Dell Support website at
support.dell.com
. This file is a self-extracting
.exe
file—
DELLMP30_A02.exe
.

Copy the downloaded file to the destination directory on your local
system’s hard drive.

Open the
DELLMP30_A02.exe
file to extract
Dell.Connections.001.MP.

Click
Start
→
Programs
→
System Center Operations Manager 2007
and select
Operations Console.

In the
Operations Console
, click
Administration
on the navigation pane.

Expand the
Administration
tree, right-click
Management Packs
, and
select
Import Management Packs.

Type or browse to the location of the Management Pack file, which is
usually the same location to which you downloaded and extracted the
contents of the
DELLMP30_A02.exe
file.

Select
Dell.Connections.001.MP
and click
Open
. The
Import
Management Packs
appears.

Click
Import
to complete the task.
Post-Import Tasks
The IPMI Power control and LED Identification tasks on the Dell
Management Pack require BMC Management Utility (BMU) 2.0 to be
installed on the Operations Manager Management Server. These tasks use
default BMC credentials, which cannot be modified.
