10 Importing the Dell™ Management Pack
Requirements
The following subsections provide software and hardware installation
requirements.
Managed System Software Requirements
• Supported operating systems: Windows Server
®
2003 x86 and x64 with
SP1 (Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter editions), and Windows 2000
Server edition with SP4.
• Support for Dell OpenManage™ Server Administrator version 5.2
(including the Server Administrator Storage Management Service).
NOTE: For receiving alerts from the storage subsystem, ensure that the
Server Administrator Storage Management Service is installed.
• Browser support for Server Administrator-managed systems. For information
on browser support for Server Administrator-managed systems, see the
Server Administrator
readme.txt .
NOTE: If Dell Remote Access Controller (DRAC) is installed on your Dell system,
install the DRAC agent using the Dell PowerEdge™ Installation and Server
Management CD. During installation, select Managed Node
→ DRAC Agent.
NOTE: For your DRAC and Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) tasks to
work without errors, configure a valid IP address for your DRAC card and baseboard
management controller (BMC) and ensure network connectivity.
NOTE: If the Remote Power Control tasks or the LED Identification Control tasks
result in errors, ensure that network connectivity is available from the BMC network
interface card (NIC) of the Dell system. Also ensure that the BMC is configured with
a valid IP Address and IPMI is enabled. For troubleshooting IPMI shell errors, see
the Dell OpenManage Baseboard Management Controller Utilities User’s Guide on
the Dell Support website at support.dell.com or on the Dell PowerEdge
