Troubleshooting
When installing Microsoft Windows Server 2012 using the OS Deployment feature of
Lifecycle Controller, it may stop responding or display a message stating that Windows
product key is invalid and the installation must be stopped.
This issue rarely occurs. The issue is due to a Microsoft Windows media limitation. The media cannot accommodate the
variation of drivers on systems that have different PCI devices. The issue does not occur with OEM versions of Windows
Server 2012 media purchased from Dell.
The resolution is to temporarily remove all non-essential, slotted PCI devices, and retry installation, or download the Dell
System Build and Update Utility (SBUU) bootable DVD image from support.dell.com and use its assisted installation
feature for installing Windows Server 2012.
While installing Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems, the driver pack does not
include drivers for Broadcom Sirius or Regulus cards and Intel network cards. However, if
these cards are present in a server, they are indicated by a yellow color warning symbol
after the operating system installation is complete.
For Broadcom Sirius or Regulus cards, and Intel network cards download the drivers from the internet and manually
install them.
