Replacing the Optical Drive



Removing the Optical Drive



1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.



2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery).



3. Remove the memory module(s) (see Removing the Memory Module(s)).



4. Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the base cover.



5. Insert a plastic scribe into the slot on the base cover and push the optical drive out.



6. Slide the optical drive out of the optical-drive bay.



7. Lift and pull the optical-drive bezel to remove it from the optical drive.



8. Remove the two screws that secure the optical-drive bracket to the optical drive.



9. Remove the optical-drive bracket.

computer.
